BHOYCOTT THE SUN

After much debate the Celtic Supporters Association have called for a Bhoycott of the above newspaper as a direct result of the highly unprofessional personal attack on Martin O’Neill by Sun “reporter” Bill Leckie after the recent Old Firm match at Ibrox. We do not make this judgement lightly as we believe in the freedom of the Press and an independent Media, however we also believe in truthful and objective reporting.

“Loutish, childish, out of control..not your team Martin, YOU” was the back page of The Sun above Bill Leckie’s hysterical personal attack on Saint Martin. “The game was ugly but O’Neill’s response to it was hideous” it screamed from the inside page as Leckie abused his position by launching into O’Neill with a bitter tirade.    

The reason behind Mr Leckie's diatribe was one of the most basic errors in journalism, letting his own personal views cloud his judgment. “For four and a half years he’s played the smart arse”, “Frankly, I’ve been sick of him for a long time”, “This was the so called Saint Martin (copyright this website) at his twisted, spoiled, uncharitable, one eyed worst”, “Quite frankly I’m heart sick of him”

He finishes off his diatribe by saying ”These days Martin O’Neill deserves the same respect that he shows the rest of Scottish football. Which is less than none”  

The whole article is of the standard that you would expect from a drunken fan who goes on an internet Forum after the game, still inebriated and foaming at the mouth, and vents his fury on a subject before regretting it all the next morning when he has sobered up. It speaks volumes of The Sun that the Editor has deemed it worthy of a two-page spread.

Maybe Mr Leckie should sober up to this fact. The Celtic Supporters Association have led a Bhoycott of the Daily Record, which has not been lifted, and which has seen the Editor sacked and caused dwindling sales. Celtic supporters are no longer prepared to sit back and accept the level of abuse that we have accepted in the past. Once again it is time for the massive worldwide Celtic support to unite against media bias.

Quite frankly Mr Leckie, we are heart sick of you.
