Casey Jones Emerald member Charlie O’Neill participated in an MND Charity Fun Run atStrathclyde Park , prior to the home match v Hibernian.
Charlie’s prime motivation in competing in the event was to raise funds for MND in memory of Jimmy Johnstone. Thanks to Charlie’s efforts and sponsorship within & out with the CSC, a creditable £400 was raised for a most worthy cause. Charlie also broke some speed records after the race in his efforts to get to Celtic Park in time for the Hibs kick-off! Well done Charlie!

Tommy Dornan from the CSA will write a wee report each week after the game.
A series of incredible highs and lows for all Celtic fans this week. The sight of our rivals coming apart at the seams and the chance to noise up bluenose workmates was the last thing on our minds on Thursday morning. The loss of Tommy Burns is a cruel and tragic blow, he was one of us, like a brother or a best mate who reached the very top but never forgot his roots.
He’s the guy who lived the dream we all had as kids. From bhoyhood to manhood as player, manager, mentor, husband and father he set an example to all. He was Celtic to the core but always managed to cut through the divisions in this society of ours.
When we clinch the league tomorrow, pause for a second and give thanks he passed our way. It may be a long time before we see his like again. Born in the shadow of Celtic Park, he is part of our folklore and legend, when you enter Celtic Park, you walk in the shadow of giants,
Tommy Burns stands among them. Our thoughts and prayers are with Rosemary and family
Hibs
A sunny afternoon, a fantastic game of football, end to end play, goal mouth action, entertainment from both teams and a couple of red cards toboot.
I don`t think this will ever catch on. The only thing missing was a Saturday afternoon kick-off. Barry Robson rightly won the accolades but was closely supported by his team-mates in every department.
Now we have to wait and see how others deal with the pressure. Interestingly, while Craig Levein was raging about events elsewhere, he quite clearly said he was not talking about Celtic but what had happened at Ibrox, a point lost on the press.
When will the media realise that there is no old firm, we are not the other side of their coin and continually repeating the lie won`t make it true.
When the race-fest begins in Manchester and the self proclaimed racists of Zenit aim uncivilized noises at JC Darcheville lets have no false outrage from their kindred spirits in the tangerine and blue corner.
I would like to wish them well but I would rather tell the truth. Hope they both get beat.
RANGERS
Celtic did everything that was required of them on Sunday, they were strong and determined to grab the points needed to keep the title race alive.
How it obviously hurts to see us get a break from referees, who’s Paranoid now. Questions need asked about the two identical goals we gifted but the end result was well justified. Scott McDonald’s two goals were as massive as the smile on Barry Robsons face when he netted the penalty.
All we can do now is wait and see if the pressure exerted is enough to cause a collapse. What a furore over Artur Borucs t-shirt. Please note he never gestured to or approached the few opposition fans left in the stadium at that point.
How precious of them to be offended. Where was the comment, far less condemnation of the rangers support who racially abused Naka and sang the disgusting Famines Over song ? This is a clear violation of SPL and UEFA guidelines yet not a word from any media source.
Are we the only ones who hear this bile or is it a clear case of selective deafness. Don’t hold your breath waiting on action from the SPL.
Rangers/Aberdeen
Two games, three goals, six points and moans all round. Sure Saturday was flat but compared to the high on Wednesday its not surprising there was a reaction against Aberdeen. Despite carping from Zander Diamond, for once we got a lucky break from a ref, even if Brines is atrocious and appears arrogant when dealing with players. Paul Caddis was a pleasure to behold with unbounded energy and enthusiasm and has a big career ahead.
Nakas goal was superb and he would have had another but for the hand ball. Maybe we should follow rugby and award the goal in those situations rather than reward cheating with a second chance. The actions of one moron on
Wed allowed the focus to be diverted from a great performance. What is it with these nutters; they are not welcome among our support. There are enough people already who would shut us down without handing them an excuse. David Murray and his Trust should also condemn the songs about Jock Stein, their silence on this matter is deafening. Lets hope the headlines on Monday are about another superb performance from Celtic and keeping the league alive.
Motherwell v Celtic
It has been said that Brazilian players learn their trade playing on the Cop cabana beach. Their sand must be very different from the Fir Park variety. No way is this conducive to good football.
Despite the pitch the bhoys rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in. I actually thought we played better against Motherwell last week but the difference this time was that we got a break in front of goal. Motherwell rarely threatened and only a poor pass from Paul Hartley led to the equalizer.
Previously the players have let the heads go down and lacked composure. Hartley and Robson however were tenacious in midfield and Naka had his best game in a long time. Aiden McGeady must relish a return to Celtic Park.
JVOH and Skippy have scored a total of 45 so far this season. If they receive quality service there is no reason not to add to that on Wed. I would be tempted to bring Bobo in to stand up to McCullochs enthusiastic challenges but suspect GS would`t agree with me.
We need to stand up and be counted and can’t afford to be bullied or mugged this time.If weare better now`s the time to prove it.
Celtic v Motherwell.
Lies, damned lies and statistics ! Yet another game where we passed the opposition off the park, had more shots on target, off target, covered more ground, made more tackles and did everything statistically correct.
Unfortunately the game is won by putting the ball in the net at one end and stopping it at the other, both traits which seem to have deserted us recently. I don`t know if its just a lack of confidence or something else but it certainly wonât be sorted by turning on the players or the manager. I am all in favour of expressing ones opinion and I know how much it hurts but the team desperately need our unqualified support NOW, not just when things are going well. Its certainly demanding and frustrating to watch at the moment but that’s unquestionably when we play our most important role as Celtic Supporters. This is when we should justify our many rightful plaudits and stand behind our team. After Seville I heard many fans greet each other saying “Keep the Faith†that’s still true today. Its easy when we’re winning but this is when we roll the sleeves up. C’mon the Hoops, This season is not over yet
ST MIRREN AWAY
Some people would say winning ugly is the mark of real champions, if so Sunday's game could prove to be a real championship performance for us.Perhaps the Barca master class on Wednesday was the reason but the bhoys were very subdued for most of the game.
Once again a strong St Mirren side rolled their sleeves up and got stuck in about us. Most commentators agreed that the Buddies took any plaudits going but I willl settle for taking the three points every time.
The St Mirren players claimed there was no contact with Naka, they are wrong as TV proved later, contact though minimal was definitely made. I make no apologies for getting the benefit of doubt where referees are concerned,
Weâve been on the receiving end of poor calls often enough. How many fans never mind players would say âhœsorry ref youre wrong, please dont give us that decision.â Dont hold your breath waiting for the rush.
Anyway how can it be winning ugly when one brilliant moment , one piece of magic artistry like Nakas free kick secures the end product everybodys talking about? Remember two more like that in Barca is all we need next week.
Hearts Home
Saturdays 3-0 win over Hearts was particularly satisfying. After the early opening goal Hearts put themselves about to make a game of it but the soaring confidence of this Celtic team was unmistakable in their refusal to lie down or be muscled out of the game.
McGeady and Nakamura put in more tackles than most other players on the pitch and Scott Brown snarled at anybody daring to enter his domain. Donati had his most effective game in a while and JVOH and Skippy continue to do the business up front. It was exactly the type of game we needed before Barcelona .
Never mind the bull about them being off form or past their best, it will take another epic performance to get a result.Barca are still top drawer but so are we and fear no one, particularly at Celtic Park.
The absence of Brown and Hinkel will complicate matters but we now have match winning options on the bench. One area for concern will be right back, options likely to be Caldwell, Caddis or maybe ODea then again
Gordon Strachan gets paid big bucks for making those decision so Ill leave it to him.We are more than capable of progressing.
Aberdeen Away
A superb performance all round fromthe team on Sunday could easily have brought more than five goals. Langfield had three excellent saves in the Second half from McGeady, McDonald and Nakamura.Another sparkling performance from Aideniniho and the move prior to the fourth was Magnificent, well worth the admission on its own.
Unfortunately he picked up not only the man of the match award but the softest booking of the year. If the referee deemed that a booking, how on earth did Young miss out on a straight red for chopping down Samaras when he was clean through on goal.
As for fans of provincial clubs who moan about a rough deal from referees against Celtic, I offer in evidence JVOH and his encounter with the Bus stop. As the ball came into the box the defender had two arms clamped around Jan, as he turned he grappled the big man to the ground and still kept a tight hold. Verdict from the official less than 4 yards away ? No Penalty! Play on! Incredible.
An excellent debut goal from Barry Robson and now the team has a more settled look about it the form has returned in style.
Kilmarnock Scot Cup
A much better performance from the team brought a deserved result. If it wasnt for the goalkeeper it could have been a complete rout. It was also a more mobile, involved performance from JVOH. If the presence of competition in new bhoy Samaras helped focus Janâs thoughts, long may it continue. A well taken debut goal from Georgios brightly coloured dream boots is liable to spark a sales rush at the Celtic Superstore.
A first class performance from Paul Caddis helped steady a hesitant defence.and in fairness Gary Caldwell had possibly his best game for us. With the addition of our three new signings last week things are looking much better for the rest of the league campaign. By the way, all the moaners who complain that the big clubs are creaming off the best talent in the league should get a life.Thats the way it has always been and will never change.
We buy Barry Robson, United get a big fee, they bring in other players, pay off debt or invest in youth, their choice, it keeps the football world turning. The same argument which wants Celtic and Rangers to leave the SPL to make it more competitive but please leave behind your money we cant survive without you !
Falkirkk away
As the league stands at present , the most important thing is definitely to secure all three points regardless of the entertainment value ! It is however also desperate to watch, the team are very flat at the moment and badly need a lift.
Its often said winning ugly is the mark of champions but the TV pundits only concentrated on the ugly bit, no credit for holding out against a fired up Falkirk side and getting the points.
We are struggling to find form but it seems, according to those who know better, that we cheated/robbed/mugged/brutalised poor Falkirk throughout the game. Regarding penalty claims, Caldwell -ball to hand (Ian McCall claimed it was accidental but a definite penalty anyway ?), McManus - full blooded volley straight at him, accidental contact impossible to avoid, Donati - minimal contact, if McBride hadnt exaggerated he might have had more luck.
Not much mention from the panel about Naylor getting body checked in the box. McDonald goal offside, maybe! but only on the TV, was it end of the first phase or start of the second?
Best wishes to Dean Holden for a quick recovery and well done Yogi for sticking to the truth and not blaming big Mick.
Kilmarnock Home
While happy with the three points on Sat I think the team needs to regain ts composure in front of goal. Killie defended well but failed to get a single shot, on or off target. We created plenty of chances yet never quite hit top form.
No lack of effort and plenty of chances made but we need to keep up the effort, get back to our earlier form and start taking the chances when they come.
Over the years, I have witnessed many players being booked for backchat to the man in black, this was the first time I have seen it for a player refusing to talk back. If Mick McCurry thought Skippy had dived he should have booked him for that but he ignored the incident and as play moved on he ignored the game to initiate an unwanted conversation with the player which resulted in a booking.
When Scot Brown was kicked in the head, despite not asking for nor receiving treatment McCurry insistedhe leave the field of play, Scotty protested more to the ref about that than Skippy to no avail. Yet all the Sunday reports stated the ref had an excellent game ! No wonder we sometimes loose the plot.
